Bengaluru, 1st January 2026 – Canara Bank has announced that Shri Hardeep Singh Ahluwalia, Executive Director, has been assigned the additional charge of Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of the Bank, effective 1st January 2026. This appointment follows the superannuation of the previous MD & CEO, Shri K. Satyanarayana Raju, on 31st December 2025.

The appointment, in accordance with Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance notification No. eF.no. 4/3/2024-B O.I dated 30th December 2025, is for a period of three months or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever is earlier.

Shri Hardeep Singh Ahluwalia began his banking career on 30th March 1992 as an Agricultural Field Officer at Allahabad Bank (now Indian Bank). A graduate in Agriculture and a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, he also holds certifications in Credit Management from NIBM Pune and a Diploma in Computer Applications in Financial Management.

With over three decades of experience across Rural, Semi-Urban, Urban, and Metro banking geographies in India and Hong Kong, Shri Ahluwalia has held several strategic positions including Lead District Manager, Head of International Branch, Moradabad Zonal Head, Chandigarh & Field General Manager Kolkata, and General Manager of the Recovery Department at Indian Bank’s Corporate Office.

He has also contributed to the sports and cultural field as President of the Indian Bank Cultural & Sports Committee and has undergone leadership training at IIM Bangalore under the Banks Board Bureau program in consultation with IBA.

Shri Ahluwalia is not related to any directors of Canara Bank and is not debarred from holding office by any regulatory authority, in accordance with SEBI regulations.
