HDFC Bank MD & CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan to Step Down by End of Oct 2026
Mumbai: HDFC Bank is set for a major leadership transition. Managing Director & CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan has decided not to seek re-appointment and will step down by the end of October 2026.
The Board of Directors noted his communication at its meeting on 29 August 2026. Despite persuasion, Mr. Jagdishan reiterated his decision. He will retire from the Bank upon the close of business hours on 26 October 2026.

Mr. Jagdishan has been serving as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of HDFC Bank. His decision not to seek another term brings an end to his current tenure at the top of India’s largest private sector bank by market value.
