SBI Cards Appoints Parvathy Vairava Sundaram as Independent Director

New Delhi: SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited has announced the appointment of Smt. Parvathy Vairava Sundaram as an Additional Independent Director on its Board. The appointment, approved by the Board on December 09, 2025, is for a term of three years, effective from the same day and continuing till December 08, 2028, subject to shareholder approval.

In its regulatory filing to BSE and NSE, the company confirmed that Smt. Sundaram is not related to any existing directors and is not debarred from holding a directorship by SEBI or any other authority. The disclosure complies with Regulation 30 and Regulation 51 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR).

Smt. Parvathy Vairava Sundaram brings extensive experience in central banking and financial regulation. Her distinguished career includes serving as Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India until her superannuation in November 2019. She has worked across several critical RBI departments and represented the central bank in domestic and international institutions.

She played pivotal roles in major regulatory initiatives such as the Asset Quality Review (2015–17), migration of banks to Risk-Based Supervision, development of the Small Bank Variant Model for foreign banks, strengthening supervisory processes, and refining the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) framework. She was also part of high-level RBI committees including the Internal Study Group on MCLR and the Task Force on Public Credit Registry. She currently serves on the Standing External Advisory Committee for bank licensing.
