DOPT Re-designates Vishal Gupta as Director-Level Private Secretary to Culture Minister

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the re-designation of Shri Vishal Gupta, IAS (Gujarat cadre: 2012), elevating his position to Private Secretary at the Director level to the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

According to an official memorandum issued by the Office of the Establishment Officer, the re-designation applies to the post currently held by Shri Gupta in the Ministry of Culture. The approval has been granted as a measure personal to the officer, effective from the date he assumes charge of the re-designated position.

The upgraded designation will remain valid until June 5, 2030, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until Shri Gupta ceases to function as Private Secretary, whichever occurs earlier. The arrangement will also be subject to any further orders issued by the competent authority.

The memorandum further noted that Shri Vishal Gupta’s central deputation tenure commenced on June 6, 2025.

The decision follows a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Culture and reflects administrative continuity in supporting the Minister’s responsibilities across the culture and tourism portfolios.
