Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai Appointed Acting Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court
The President of India has appointed Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai as Acting Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court with effect from December 14, 2025.

New Delhi: The President of India has appointed Smt. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Judge of the Sikkim High Court, to perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice, the appointment has been made in exercise of powers conferred under Article 223 of the Constitution of India.
Effective Date
Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai will assume charge as Acting Chief Justice with effect from December 14, 2025, following the retirement of Shri Justice Biswanath Somadder on the same date.
Official Notification
The appointment was notified vide No. K-13019/34/2025-US.I/H, dated December 12, 2025, and will be published in the Gazette of India, Part I, Section 2.
The notification has been issued by Shri Jagannath Srinivasan, Joint Secretary to the Government of India.
