Praveen Sood gets extension as CBI Director for one year
Praveen Sood is an Indian Police Service officer who serves as Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation and served as Police Commissioner of Bengaluru and Mysore.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, based on the recommendations of the Committee, has approved the extension in tenure of Shri Praveen Sood, IPS (KN:1986) as Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of one year beyond 24.05.2025.

He started his career from Mysore in Karnataka, as an IPS officer in 1989. Later from 2004 to 2007, he served as the Police Commissioner of Mysore.
He became the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Bengaluru in 2008 and served till 2011. Later in 2013, as Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation, he was known to improve the turnover of KSPHC.
