Shri Prasad Arvind Chaphekar Re-designated as Director in Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

Shri Prasad Arvind Chaphekar, IRS (IT:2012), currently Deputy Secretary, has been re-designated as Director in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, effective 1st January 2026 for a tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme.

New Delhi, December 2025: The Government of India has approved the re-designation of Shri Prasad Arvind Chaphekar, IRS (IT:2012), from the post of Deputy Secretary to Director in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The approval, issued by the Department of Personnel and Training through the Office of the Establishment Officer, will take effect from 1st January 2026 or the date of assumption of charge of the re-designated post, whichever is later. The tenure for this position is aligned with the provisions of the Central Staffing Scheme and will continue up to 25th December 2027, making it a period of five years from the commencement of the re-designated tenure.

 

Shri Chaphekar’s central deputation tenure began on 26th December 2022, and the re-designation is a personal measure recognizing his contributions and suitability for the higher responsibility within MNRE.

The official communication was signed by Annies Kanmani Joy, Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, and addressed to relevant stakeholders, including the Secretary of the Department of Revenue and officials in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

This move is part of ongoing administrative measures to strengthen leadership in the Ministry, supporting India’s renewable energy initiatives and policy execution.
