Bharat Pumps and Compressors Limited (BPC) was established in 1970 as a  public sector trust under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. Headquartered in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, BPC specializes in  manufacturing high-technology products like reciprocating pumps, centrifugal pumps, reciprocating compressors and high-pressure seamless gas cylinders.

Major industries like oil  exploration, refineries, fertiliser plants and nuclear power plants depend on high-technology equipment. Business and Financial Restructuring (BIFR) During the economic recession, BPC underwent major changes in the mid-2000s under the leadership of Abhay Kumar Jain.

During this period, the company's profit before tax (PBT) increased significantly and its outstanding debt also increased.The company places emphasis on Total Quality Management (TQM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to gain and maintain its reputation for  competitive pricing in the local and international markets. It continues to play a significant role in the Indian economy by providing valuable tools and services to many key sectors.
