Braithwaite Bum & Jessop Construction Company Ltd

Braithwaite, Burn & Jessop Construction Company Limited (BBJ) is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. BBJ was founded on 26 January 1935 and is headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. The company was formed by the merger of three engineering companies, Braithwaite, Burn and Jessop, with the aim of meeting India's growing infrastructure needs.

 

Industrial structural engineering, large  foundations, civil engineering, refinery pipeline engineering  and railway gauge conversion. Known for its expertise in  steel bridge construction, the company was involved in many important projects including the Howrah Bridge (Rabindra Setu) in 1941 and  Vidyasagar Setu (Second Hooghly Bridge) in 1992.  BBJ Works works with Indian Railways as  Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for projects like IRCON and RVNL. 

 

he company is also involved in civil engineering projects such as construction of schools for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and  industrial projects such as plantations for Eastern Coalfields Limited. Reputation as a well-established company. The company continues to play a significant role in India's infrastructure development by contributing to the construction of several railway bridges and other important infrastructure projects across the country.
