Strategic Importance

The project marks APSEZ’s entry into India’s second-largest major port and a key bulk cargo gateway on the eastern seaboard. It complements the company’s existing 140 MMT capacity across Haldia, Dhamra, Gopalpur and Gangavaram ports.

With this addition, APSEZ’s total domestic cargo handling capacity will rise to 671 MMT, moving closer to its target of 1 billion tonnes by 2030.

Mr. Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO, APSEZ, said the Paradip concession strengthens the company’s presence on the East Coast and expands access to the mineral-rich hinterland of eastern and central India.
