Mumbai, 15 June, 2026: In a major boost to India's defence manufacturing ambitions, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the wholly owned defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, unveiled its new MArG series of 155mm 4×4 Mounted Artillery Guns on the opening day of Eurosatory 2026 in Paris.

The launch marks a significant milestone for the Pune-based defence manufacturer as it seeks to strengthen its position in the global artillery market with highly mobile, rapidly deployable and cost-effective firepower solutions for modern armed forces.

MArG Series Offers Three Calibre Configurations

The MArG family has been developed as a common platform available in three configurations:

  • MArG 39 (39 calibre): Optimized for tactical mobility and flexibility.

  • MArG 45 (45 calibre): Designed to offer balanced range and firepower.

  • MArG 52 (52 calibre): Intended for extended-range and high-performance artillery operations.

The common platform architecture enables armed forces to choose the configuration best suited to their operational requirements while maintaining uniformity in logistics, maintenance and training.

MArG 39 Sets New Standard in Deployable Artillery

The next-generation MArG 39, showcased at Eurosatory 2026, combines NATO-standard 155mm firepower with the agility of a 4×4 wheeled platform.

According to KSSL, the 22-tonne system offers:

  • Full shoot-and-scoot capability.

  • Rapid deployment and repositioning.

  • Air transportability depending on configuration.

  • Capability to fire precision-guided munitions.

  • Ability to operate in mountains, deserts and urban terrain.

  • Lower logistics footprint compared to heavier 6×6 and 8×8 platforms.

The system can come into action in just 1.5 minutes during daytime operations and sustain 42 rounds per hour, making it suitable for counter-battery missions, interdiction and fire support roles.

Designed for Network-Centric Warfare

The MArG series incorporates a modern fire-control system and supports digitized artillery coordination and network-centric warfare requirements. The platform is engineered for minimal crew requirements, quick reaction times and enhanced battlefield survivability.

Its design simplicity and lower weight provide strategic mobility while enabling operations across diverse terrains and mission profiles.
