Ilker Ayci Declines offer to be New Air India CEO; said would not be feasible

New Delhi: Mehmet Ilker Ayci a Turkish businessperson and former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkish Airlines rejected the offer to be the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Air India, the flag carrier airline of India, According to the sources.
“I have come to the conclusion that it would not be a feasible or an honourable decision to accept the position in the shadow of such a narrative," Ayci said in the release.
In the month of February 2022, the Air India board approved the appointment of Mr. Ilker Ayci as the CEO & Managing Director of Air India. After the opposition to an appointment in India, he said it would not be a feasible or an honourable decision to accept. However, he mentioned that his position on this appointment was coloured by the Indian media.
On this the RSS-affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch last Friday said “keeping in view national security”, the government should not give clearance to his appointment as CEO of Air India.
