Jindal Stainless Flags Middle East War Impact on Plant Operations

New Delhi, March 13, 2026: Jindal Stainless Limited has said that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East is affecting its operations due to disruptions in fuel supply and global shipping routes.

In a disclosure to the BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited under Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements, the company stated that several manufacturing processes have been impacted because of limited availability of key industrial gases.

Fuel Constraints Affect Stainless Steel Production

The company explained that stainless steel production depends heavily on industrial gases such as propane, LPG and natural gas.

Unlike the conventional steel industry, which generates energy through blast furnace and coke oven gases, the stainless steel sector largely follows a scrap-based production route where such gases are not produced internally.

Due to constraints in fuel availability, the company said its plants are currently operating at rationalised capacity levels.

Shipping Disruptions Pressure Supply Chains

The company also noted that the crisis has affected global shipping routes, leading to vessel diversions, longer transit times and cargo delays.

These disruptions are increasing pressure on supply chains and affecting operational margins for manufacturers.

Industry Seeks Clarity on Fuel Allocation

Jindal Stainless Limited said the government is actively monitoring the situation and prioritising fuel allocation for critical sectors.

However, the company emphasized that clarity on allocation levels for industrial propane/LPG and natural gas, along with assurance of regular supply, will be important for the stainless steel industry to plan and optimise operations.

Without such clarity, the company warned that the situation could have a cascading impact across the industry depending on how quickly supply issues are resolved.
