JSW Steel Reports 23.66 Lakh Tonnes Crude Steel Production in February 2026

Mumbai, March 10, 2026: JSW Steel Limited announced that its consolidated crude steel production for February 2026 stood at 23.66 lakh tonnes, reflecting a 2% year-on-year decline compared to 24.07 lakh tonnes produced in February 2025.

The company stated that production at its Indian operations was marginally lower due to the ongoing capacity upgradation shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at its Vijayanagar Steel Plant facility. The furnace has been under shutdown since September 2025 for expansion and modernization.

Indian Operations Show Stable Performance

Crude steel production from JSW Steel’s Indian operations totaled 23.06 lakh tonnes in February 2026, slightly down from 23.32 lakh tonnes recorded during the same month last year, representing a 1% decline.

However, the company noted that if the previous year’s BF3 output is excluded from the comparison base, production volumes would have shown approximately 8% growth year-on-year, driven by the full ramp-up of operations at JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Limited (JVML).

Capacity utilisation at Indian facilities remained strong:

  • ~97% excluding BF3 capacity

  • ~88% including BF3 capacity

US Operations Impacted by Weather and Upgrades

Production at the company’s US operations in Ohio was lower during the month. Output from JSW Steel USA declined to 0.60 lakh tonnes, compared with 0.75 lakh tonnes in February 2025, marking a 20% year-on-year drop.

The decline was attributed to ramping up operations after caster upgrades completed in January 2026, along with disruptions caused by severe winter storms in the region.

Production Break-Up (Lakh Tonnes)

Segment February 2026 February 2025 YoY Change
Indian Operations 23.06 23.32 -1%
JSW Steel USA – Ohio 0.60 0.75 -20%
Consolidated Production 23.66 24.07 -2%
