L&T Bags Mega Contract for India’s Largest 3000 MW Pumped Storage Project in Maharashtra
Mumbai, January 14, 2026: Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a significant new contract for the construction of India’s largest pumped storage power project, marking a major milestone for the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.
The order, classified as a “Large” contract, has been awarded by Torrent Energy Storage Solutions Pvt Ltd for the development of the 3000 MW Saidongar-1 Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Raigad district, Maharashtra. The project will consist of ten generating units of 300 MW each, making it the biggest pumped storage facility in the country.

Under the contract, L&T’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure business vertical will handle the design, engineering and execution of all civil and hydro-mechanical works associated with the project.
