Lodha Developers Partners with Maharashtra Government to Build 2 GW Green Data Centre Park in Palava

Lodha Developers will develop a 2 GW green data centre park in Palava, supporting renewable energy and job creation. The project aligns with Maharashtra’s industrial thrust on sustainable digital infrastructure.

Mumbai, September 2025:  Lodha Developers has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to develop a 2-gigawatt (GW) Green Data Centre Park in Palava. This initiative plays an important role in building sustainable digital infrastructure and supports the state’s efforts to promote data centres powered by renewable energy.

This decision comes after Maharashtra approved the Green Integrated Data Centre Parks policy last year, which aims to support eco-friendly data centre infrastructure. Under this agreement, Lodha will serve as the developer for various domestic and international companies looking to set up data centres in the park.

The project backs Maharashtra’s long-standing status of integrated data centres as a key area for industrial growth—a policy established in 2019. The increasing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and other digital services led the government to introduce the green policy in October 2024. This framework requires data centres to primarily use renewable and alternative energy sources, showing the state’s commitment to sustainability.

The Palava park is expected to draw investments over Rs 30,000 crore from Lodha and other operators while creating around 6,000 direct and indirect jobs. The government intends to open three such parks across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), aiming to make Maharashtra a national leader in green digital infrastructure.

Abhishek Lodha, MD & CEO of Lodha Developers, stated, “We are proud to partner with the Maharashtra government on this transformative project. The Green Integrated Data Centre Parks policy will create jobs, boost economic growth, and encourage sustainable energy use. Lodha is dedicated to reaching net-zero emissions across our operations in the coming years.”

Lodha Developers, primarily focused on real estate development, recently reported a 42% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 674.70 crore in Q1 FY26, alongside a 22.7% rise in revenue from operations to Rs 3,491.70 crore compared to the same quarter last year. However, its shares fell 0.20% to Rs 1,176.95 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

With this project, Maharashtra aims to enhance its industrial and environmental leadership by building infrastructure that meets future digital demands while encouraging sustainable practices. The Palava data centre park represents a notable step in balancing rapid technology growth with environmental responsibility.
