Tata Steel Limited has completed the acquisition of a 50.01% equity stake in Thriveni Pellets Private Limited (TPPL) for a total consideration of ₹635.13 crore, following approval from the Competition Commission of India received on January 20, 2026.
The acquisition involves 90,06,801 equity shares of ₹10 each, purchased from Thriveni Earthmovers Private Limited. The remaining 49.99% stake continues to be held by Llyods Metals & Energy Limited.
Strategic Subsidiary Expansion
TPPL owns 100% of Brahmani River Pellets Private Limited (BRPL). As a result of this acquisition:

Both TPPL and BRPL are now subsidiaries of Tata Steel
This move strengthens Tata Steel’s pellet and downstream raw material business, supporting its long-term growth and operational integration strategy.
