Titan Company Appoints Sandhya Venugopal Sharma, IAS, as Chairperson

1995-batch IAS officer and former Space Department official to lead the Board; takes over from Mr. Arun Roy.

BENGALURU: Titan Company Limited, a leading lifestyle company and a joint venture between the Tata Group and the Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO), has announced a top-level leadership change. The Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Ms. Sandhya Venugopal Sharma, IAS, as the Chairperson and Additional Director, effective from January 4, 2026.

 

Key Details of the Appointment

The move follows a nomination from TIDCO, the co-promoter of Titan. Ms. Sharma succeeds Mr. Arun Roy, IAS, as the Chairperson. While Mr. Roy steps down from the chair, he will continue to serve as a Director on Titan's Board.

  • Designation: Chairperson and Additional Director (Non-Executive, Non-Independent).

  • Effective Date: January 4, 2026.

  • Selection Process: Approved via Circular Resolution by a requisite majority on December 29, 2025.

  • Compliance: The appointment is subject to shareholder approval, which the company intends to seek through a Postal Ballot in the coming months.

Profile of Ms. Sandhya Venugopal Sharma, IAS

Ms. Sharma is a distinguished senior officer of the 1995 IAS batch (Tamil Nadu cadre). Her career spans three decades of leadership across state and central governments, with a strong focus on technical administration, finance, and large-scale public projects.

  • Space & Science Administration: From 2019 to 2025, she served on central deputation as Joint Secretary and later Additional Secretary in the Department of Space in Bengaluru.

  • Education & Social Impact: She led the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in Karnataka as State Project Director, managing a massive elementary education program funded by the World Bank, UNICEF, and DFID.

  • Diverse State Roles: Her experience in Tamil Nadu includes key roles in Commercial Taxes, Education, and the Public Service Commission, as well as serving as Assistant Collector in Chengalpattu and Tindivanam.

Ms. Sharma joins Titan at a time of robust growth in its jewelry, watches, and eyewear segments. Her extensive background in industrial development and high-tech administration at the Department of Space is expected to bring a unique perspective to Titan’s board, particularly as the company continues to innovate in the luxury and lifestyle tech space.

The company confirmed that Ms. Sharma is not related to any current Directors or Key Managerial Personnel and is not debarred from holding office by any SEBI order.
