Vedanta Limited Reports Record Q2 Production, Driven by Aluminum and Zinc Assets

Two major power units, Meenakshi 1000 MW and Athena Unit-1 of 600MW, are now fully operational. The Phase-2 (700 MW) of the Meenakshi power plant is also operational.

Mumbai, October 4, 2025 — Diversified natural resources giant Vedanta Limited (VEDL) announced a strong operational performance for the second quarter ended September 30, 2025 (Q2 FY26), highlighting record production in its Aluminum and Zinc divisions. The company reported a "Record Quarterly and Half yearly Aluminum and Alumina Production" and noted that "Zinc India records its highest ever second quarter and first half mined metal production".

Key Production Highlights for Q2 FY26 (compared to Q2 FY25):

  • Aluminum and Alumina:

    • Alumina production at the Lanjigarh refinery hit a record quarterly high of 653 thousand tonnes (kt), marking a substantial 31% increase year-on-year (YoY).

       

    • Total Aluminum Production reached a record quarterly high of 617 kt, up 1% YoY, driven by operational efficiency.
  • Zinc Business:

    • Zinc India achieved its best-ever second quarter mined metal production at 258 kt, a 1% increase YoY.

       

    • Zinc International saw a significant jump in total mined metal production to 60 kt, an increase of 38% YoY, driven by higher milled tons and lead grades.
  • Iron & Steel:

    • The company recorded its Highest ever quarterly Pig Iron production of 238 kt, up 26% YoY, a result of successful debottlenecking of the blast furnace.

    • Billets Produced surged by 43% to 232 kt.

  • Power & Oil & Gas:

    • Two major power units, Meenakshi 1000 MW and Athena Unit-1 of 600MW, are now fully operational. The Phase-2 (700 MW) of the Meenakshi power plant is also operational.

    • Oil & Gas operations saw a decrease in average daily gross operated production, falling 15% YoY to 89.3 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd), with production in the key Rajasthan block down 17%. The report noted that the average production for the Cambay block factors volumes only till September 19, 2025, due to a matter concerning the PSC extension application being sub-judice.
