Power Finance Corporation Limited pledges toilets, pumps

HYDERABAD. In a major boost to school sanitation, Power Finance Corporation Limited has pledged to build government school toilets in Andhra Prad-esh with a funding of Rs 123 crores. PFC  will lend another Rs 112 crores for the supply of 4,000 solar pump sets to farmers in the state. This will be as part of the company’s Corporate Social Respo-nsibility (CSR) activities under the Swachch Bharat programme.

 

Additionally, PFC will also lend Rs 1,112 crores of which Rs 1,000 crores will go to the discoms.

 

PFC CMD  Shri M.K. Goel and director (projects) Shri  A.K. Agarwal met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandra-babu Naidu and signed an MoU in this regard. PFC has pledged to build toilets in government schools of all districts except Visakhapat-nam.

 

Mr Goel said PFC will foot the Rs 123 crores bill to build 7,200 toilets as part of the company’s CSR activities.  The Chief Minister told Mr Goel that the funding would be an investment and the Andhra Pradesh government would allocate separate funds for the maintenance of the toilets.  Mr Naidu also asked PFC to support the state in skill development of youth particularly in the energy sector.
