IIHMR University Collaborates with Vital Strategies to Advance Public Health Communication Nationwide

Mumbai, 25th September 2025: IIHMR University, in collaboration with Vital Strategies, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and global partners has successfully organized a two-day workshop titled Communicating with Data: Conveying Health Information to Media and Colleagues. The workshop convened 23 distinguished public health professionals who are actively engaged in health data management, communication, and program implementation.

The event focused on capacity building to enhance effective health communication, enabling participants to translate complex health data into clear, credible, and actionable messages. The forum attracted participants from across India, with representation from Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Odisha, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh.

Across two days, the experts deliberated on insightful topics including Data interpretation, Crafting ethical and compelling messages, Role of social media and artificial intelligence, Communication channels and strategies, Interagency collaboration, Managing negative information responsibly.

Dr. PR Sodani, President, IIHMR University, welcomed the distinguished guests and shared, “Effective communication of health data is vital for informed decision-making, public awareness, and trust in health systems. This workshop provided a dynamic platform for professionals to build practical skills, exchange global best practices, and explore innovative tools such as AI to enhance the clarity, transparency, and impact of health communication across India.”

The workshop was led by experts including Dr. Ruxana Jina, Director, Data Impact Team, Vital Strategies, Dr. Lara Tabac, Director, Global Grants Program, Vital Strategies, Dr. Nidhi Chaudhary, Principal Technical Advisor, Data Impact India, Vital Strategies, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Professor, IIHMR University, and Prof. J.P. Singh, Professor, IIHMR University.

This workshop was seamlessly moderated by Ms. Kirti Agarwal, Manager, Strategic Planning & Partnerships, IIHMR University along with Ms. Gunjan Bawa, Program Associate, Data Impact, Vital India.
