IIM Jammu Hosts Expert Session on Financial Statement Analysis for MBA Cohort
IIM Jammu conducted an interactive session on financial statement analysis from an equity analyst’s perspective for its MBA Term IV students. The session was led by Ambit Capital experts, bridging academic learning with real-world market insights.
Jammu, September 2, 2025: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, led by Director Prof. B. S. Sahay, hosted a session on Financial Statement Analysis from an Equity Analyst’s Perspective for its Term IV MBA cohort. The online session was part of the institute's effort to supplement academic learning with practical industry expertise.
The session was delivered by Mr. Satyadeep Jain, Lead Analyst for Cement, Metals, Mining & Utilities at Ambit Capital, under the guidance of Mr. Ashwin Mehta, Head of Equity Research at Ambit Capital. Prof. P. P. Maheshwari, Professor of Practice, IIM Jammu, moderated the discussion.

During the session, it was highlighted that equity research is more than just a mechanical examination of financial statements. It requires integrating quantitative analysis with a nuanced understanding of industry cycles, regulatory contexts, and macroeconomic trends. Mr. Satyadeep explained how equity analysts at Ambit study company financials and management guidance to prepare earnings estimates and generate investment recommendations (buy, hold, or sell calls). This process transforms raw data into actionable insights for investors.

The discussion also provided students with case-based illustrations of how analysts construct valuation models, assess risks, and interpret corporate disclosures.
