New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management Jammu, under the visionary leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, hosted a significant session of the ongoing Military Civil Fusion Capsule (MCFC) on 15th October 2025 at the Patanjali Classroom. The theme of the session was “Enhancing Defence Capability through Integration with Academia and the Private Sector.”

The Military Civil Fusion Capsule (MCFC) commenced with its inaugural session at the Tiger Division, Jammu, on 15th Oct 2025. The capsule, scheduled from 15th to 29th October 2025, underscores the pivotal role of synergy among the Armed Forces, Civil Administration, Academia, and Security Agencies in ensuring regional stability and progress. It aims to foster deeper institutional collaboration beyond strategic levels to grassroots governance, a crucial element in addressing multidimensional challenges such as conventional security threats, as well as emerging issues in the cyber and social domains.

The event brought together senior army officials, civil administrators, and academic experts from IIM Jammu and IIT Jammu to deliberate on innovative approaches for strengthening India’s defence ecosystem through technological collaboration, research, and strategic partnerships. The session began with insightful deliberations led by Brigadier Pawan Rai, Commander 26 Artillery Brigade, and the Commanding Officer of 626 EME Battalion, 26th Division. Discussions focused on leveraging academic and private sector expertise to enhance operational efficiency and technological innovation in the Armed Forces. Speakers also reflected on Jammu’s long-standing civil-military cooperation, citing Operations Sindoor, and Rahat, as examples of how joint efforts have strengthened resilience and regional progress.

Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, emphasized academia’s vital role in nation-building and fostering synergy among institutions for the vision of Viksit Bharat. The session also featured insightful talks by Dr. Karan Nathwani and Dr. Samaresh Bera from IIT Jammu on Technology Absorption as a Force Multiplier, focusing on AI, drones, and cyber technologies in modern warfare.

A highlight of the session was the engaging address by Prof. Brig. (Retd.) Neeraj Soni, Co-Chairperson, Anandam, IIM Jammu, on Designing Strategic Human Resource Management Practices for the Indian Army to be Future Ready. He spoke about embracing digital transformation, team synergy, and human-centric leadership while preparing for future challenges. 

Present on the occasion were Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Prof. Sanjay Gupta, Professor of Practice, IIM Jammu and Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Chairperson, Media and Publications and Anandam, IIM Jammu; and Prof. Brigadier (Retd.) Neeraj Soni, Co-Chairperson, Anandam, IIM Jammu. Also in attendance were Dr. Karan Nathwani, Associate Professor, IIT Jammu, and Dr. Samaresh Bera, Assistant Professor, IIT Jammu.

The session culminated on a patriotic note with a heartfelt poetry recital on Operation Sindoor by IIM Jammu student Shri Abhishek Dubey, earning wide appreciation from all present. The session reinforced IIM Jammu’s commitment to fostering defence-academia-industry collaboration, innovation, and the Whole-of-Nation approach for national progress.
