The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India successfully concluded its 4th Online Short Term Internship (OSTI) Programme for 2025-26, with 80 university-level students from 16 States and Union Territories completing the course. The programme, which began on 10th November 2025, provided students with an opportunity to engage with human rights experts and gain practical knowledge about rights protection.

During the valedictory session, Shri Bharat Lal, Secretary General of NHRC, congratulated the interns and encouraged them to become human rights ambassadors. He emphasized the importance of internalizing human rights principles in daily life, urging students to use the knowledge and values gained during the internship to create awareness and address rights violations in their communities.

 

Shri Lal also highlighted the significance of the Directive Principles of State Policy and Fundamental Rights, advising interns to reflect on ways to promote and protect human rights effectively. Smt Saidingpuii Chhakchhuak, Joint Secretary, NHRC, presented the internship report, noting that the programme featured 46 sessions conducted by NHRC members, senior officers, experts, and civil society representatives. Various competitions were also held, with results announced during the event.

Shri Samir Kumar, Joint Secretary, NHRC, and Lt Col Virender Singh, Director, NHRC, were present during the concluding ceremony.
