NLCIL signed MoU with Iindian Institute of Science

 

Bangalore:An MoU was signed between NLC India Limited and Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore, to set up an Innovation and Incubation Centre for helping the young innovators in specific focus areas aimed to develop the core business activities of NLCIL at Bengaluru recently.  Yesterday (18.09.19), the MoU was exchanged in the presence of Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD, Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR, Shri N.N.M. Rao, Director/P&P, Shri Shaji John, Director/Power and Senior officials of NLCIL at Neyveli.  
 
As per the MoU, the Centre for Applied Research and Development (CARD), NLCIL, in collaboration with the Society for Innovation and Development (SID),Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, will set up an Innovation and Incubation Centre which will focus on innovation work on identified theme areas, such as, Lignite conversion to clean fuel, Emission reduction and carbon capture, Value added product development, Storage batteries, Internet of Things (IOT) solutions, Water purification, Storage batteries, Modern greenhouse techniques etc.   It is worth mentioning that IISC, Bengaluru has been recognized by Atal Incubation Mission (AIM) as one of the Institutions for Innovation and incubation centre and also recognized as one of the world class centre for excellence.  
 
Based on the MoU, IISC, Bengaluru will provide 2000 square feet to lead start-ups with support from seed fund by NLCIL with an outlay of Rs.397.96 lakhs for a period of three years.  Young innovators will be invited with proposals to develop proof of concept and prototype towards start up. It is a matter of pride that the formation of this Innovation and Incubation Centre will create business opportunities for young innovators and also develop new technologies to accelerate the growth of industry and support the society in Nation building
The MoU signed by Dr.V. Manoharan, CGM/Centre for Applied Research and Development &Corporate Environment Cell, Head of R&D, NLCIL and Prof. V. Rajarajan, Registrar, IISC & Prof. B. Gurumoorthy, Chief Executive, SID, IISC at Bengaluru. 
On this occasion CMD , NLCIL appreciated the initiatives  and suggested to focus on Clean coal Technology , Lignite moisture reduction to improve the heat value also enable to transport for longer distance and  to develop alternate technology for emission reduction in Thermal power stations for  maintaining clean Environment.
