HPPCL to develop 1111MW hydro power projects by 2017

SHIMLA.  Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL) is gearing up to develop hydropower projects portfolio of 1,111MW energy over the next three years in the state.

The new plans come on the heels of a credit facility of €201.5m from Germany to HPPCL for its development of 191MW Thana Plaun hydroelectric project near Mandi town under the 'Himalaya Hydropower Programme'. Construction of the Thana Plaun project is expected to be completed by 2019.

HPPCL managing director DK Sharma was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying that the employees of the company have been advised to put in their best efforts to complete the projects on-scheduled without cost overrun. Hydro.energy-business-review.com
