New Delhi, September 5, 2025: Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhavnagar Port Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (BPIPL) at New Delhi. The agreement has been signed to operate and maintain the upcoming container terminal on the north side of Bhavnagar Port in Gujarat.

The Bhavnagar Port has also executed an agreement with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) in September 2024 for the development of the port infrastructure. The agreement outlines the allotment of 235 hectares of land to BPIPL on a 30-year lease with a provision for further expansion of an additional 250 hectares.

The port facility is expected to catalyze the logistics needs of Central Gujarat and the Dholera Industrial Belt and extend the services to customers in the National Capital Region (NCR). CONCOR, under this collaboration, is purportedly acting as the Container Terminal Operator.

The PSU company will be responsible for operation, management, and marketing of the container terminal and will remark on it as a significant strategic move for CONCOR as it ventures into port operations, aligning with its vision of forward integration.

The detailed terms and conditions for the agreement are being finalized. With the infrastructure strength of a pan-India network of terminals and a large fleet of rolling stock, the company has been settled as well-positioned to offer reliable, efficient, and cost-reliable logistics services.

According to CMD CONCOR, Sh. Sanjay Swarup, the collaboration is expected to provide substantial value addition to customers and further strengthen CONCOR’s leadership in the logistics sector.
