EESL joins pact with PNGRB to accelerate deployment of smart domestic PNG meters

New Delhi: Public Energy Service Provider under Ministry of Power, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has signed a strategic agreement with Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) as a joint pact to advance the deployment of smart domestic piped natural gas meters.

The collaboration has been focused to create a structured ecosystem which could enhance the adoption of smart domestic piped natural gas (PNG) meters by combining with CGD entities, technology providers, manufacturers, system integrators, and other relevant stakeholders. As per the statement issued the MoU has been signed by both of the organizations to facilitate the demand aggregation and enable the large-scale deployment of smart domestic PNG meters across the City Gas Distribution sector.

Basics of MoU:

Under this collaboration, PNGRB will ease the initiative from the regulatory and sectoral perspective through the sharing of information related to the standards, certification, regulatory developments, and conformity assessment and inspection in smart domestic PNG metering.

Also it will facilitate the stakeholder consultations and interactions, and leveraging EESL’s project developments and implementation experience to support large-scale smart meter deployment across CGDs. EESL on other hand will undertake demand aggregation for domestic PNG smart meters and leverage its industry expertise along with technical capabilities of stakeholders network which ultimately facilitate the coordination between CGD entities and the smart metering ecosystem.

Further it will also undertake market assessment, technical evaluation and would also explore competitive procurement, price discovery and suitable models for supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of smart domestic PNG meters.
