NHPC Signs 40-Year Power Purchase Agreement with WBSEDCL for 800 MW Parbati-II & 500 MW Teesta-VI Projects

NHPC Limited has officially signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) in Kolkata on March 28, 2025. Under this agreement, WBSEDCL will procure power from 800 MW Parbati-II and 500 MW Teesta-VI Hydroelectric Projects for a tenure of 40 years, starting from their respective Commercial Operation Dates (COD).

The agreement was signed between the General Manager (Commercial) of NHPC and the Chief Engineer (Power Trading & Procurement) of WBSEDCL, in the presence of the Director (Regulatory & Trading) and other senior officials from WBSEDCL. Notably, with this PPA in place, the entire power generation from the Parbati-II project is now fully tied up.

This milestone agreement further strengthens NHPC’s position in India's renewable energy sector while ensuring reliable power supply for West Bengal.
