NLC India, NALCO Sign MoU for 1200 MW Thermal & Renewable Energy Projects
New Delhi, February 14, 2026: NLC India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Aluminium Company Limited to strengthen cooperation in the development of thermal and renewable energy projects.
NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Coal, and NALCO, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, aim to collaborate on meeting long-term power requirements through sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL; Shri Samir Swarup, Director (Human Resources); Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance); Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director (Planning & Projects); and Shri Jagdish Arora, Director (Projects & Technical), NALCO. The agreement was formally signed by Shri Murugan A., GM (Commercial), on behalf of NLCIL and Shri Nagarajan Ravi, EPO-ED (Business Development), representing NALCO.
1200 MW Thermal Captive Power Project
The MoU outlines a structured framework for cooperation in a proposed 1200 MW Thermal Captive Power Project, along with renewable energy development initiatives. The projects are intended to meet NALCO’s captive and long-term power needs in a reliable and sustainable manner.
Focus on Energy & Fuel Security
The collaboration also provides for exploring long-term power tie-ups, including captive and group captive arrangements, as well as long-term coal supply agreements. These measures are aimed at ensuring energy security and fuel stability for identified projects.
Additionally, the agreement allows for joint project development, including the potential formation of a Joint Venture Company to execute identified initiatives.
This partnership reflects the growing emphasis on inter-CPSE collaboration to optimize national resources, strengthen India’s energy security, and support industrial growth alongside sustainability goals.
