The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, reported significant progress across policy, safety, technology, and capacity-building initiatives during 2025.

Under the ChemIndia (Chemical Inventory of India) portal, 1,422 chemical units have been registered, including 652 new registrations in 2025, with 6,799 products mapped to these units. To accelerate onboarding, DCPC conducted 9 sensitization-cum-onboarding camps across the country.

In the area of chemical safety, 9 industrial safety training programmes were conducted for the workforce, covering 558 industries and 1,037 personnel, while 28 Farmers Training Programmes benefited 8,718 farmers, promoting safe pesticide use and Integrated Pest Management practices.

The Department, through the Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT), successfully developed and transferred technologies for Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate 23.99% SC formulation and Benzoyl Sulphonamide SC insecticide, supporting indigenous innovation and commercialization.

DCPC also notified 43 Quality Control Orders (QCOs) to enhance product safety and standards, while selectively withdrawing certain QCOs to avoid supply disruptions and ease MSME and export constraints. Foreign Direct Investment in the chemicals and petrochemicals sector rose by 25.59% in FY 2024–25, reaching USD 1,060 million.

Meanwhile, Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) expanded skill development and technology support, training over 33,500 candidates and completing 33,000+ technology service assignments during FY 2025–26 (up to October).

Overall, DCPC’s 2025 initiatives reflect a strong focus on chemical safety, digital monitoring, farmer outreach, technology development, and industrial growth.
