The Department of Posts (DoP) and BSE signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 12 December 2025 in New Delhi to expand access to mutual fund products across India. The initiative aligns with the Union Budget 2025–26 vision of leveraging India Post’s vast network to drive economic activity and financial inclusion, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

Under the MoU, India Post will act as a distributor of mutual funds using the BSE StAR MF platform, the country’s largest mutual fund distribution system. Selected postal employees will be trained and certified as mutual fund distributors, enabling last-mile investor services and transaction facilitation.

The MoU was signed by Ms. Manisha Bansal Badal, GM (CCS & RB), Department of Posts, and Shri Sundararaman Ramamurthy, MD & CEO, BSE, in the presence of senior officials. The agreement will remain valid for three years (12.12.2025 to 11.12.2028), with a provision for renewal.

The collaboration is expected to increase mutual fund penetration in Tier-2, Tier-3, and rural regions, promote informed investment behavior, and strengthen India Post’s role as a key financial service provider.
