New Delhi, January 29, 2026: In a major leadership update, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) recommended Shri Kota Ravi for the post of Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Schedule A central public sector enterprise.

The recommendation was made during PESB Meeting No. 8/2026, held today at 8:45 AM, and documented under Minute No. 1.

Shri Kota Ravi, currently serving as Director (Operations) at HAL, was among several high-profile candidates interviewed for the position. Other applicants included:

  1. Shri P B Rangarao, Chief Executive Officer – Helicopter Complex, HAL

  2. Shri Shishir Kumar Patra, Executive Director AMD, HAL Nasik

  3. Shri Bankim Kumar Pradhan, Executive Director (Finance), Bangalore Complex, HAL

  4. Shri Jasbir Singh, Executive Director, HAL Rotary Wing Research and Design Centre, Bangalore

  5. Shri Shrirang Anilrao Kothe, Executive Director (Koraput), HAL

  6. Shri R Venu Gopal, Senior General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited

  7. Shri Magesh, Director General, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)

With decades of experience in aviation operations and management, Shri Kota Ravi is expected to lead HAL’s ongoing initiatives in aerospace manufacturing, defense projects, and research & development, strengthening India’s indigenous capabilities in the defense and aviation sectors.

This leadership change comes at a crucial time as HAL ramps up rotorcraft, fighter aircraft, and drone projects, positioning itself as a cornerstone of India’s strategic defense manufacturing.
