Senior Tamil Nadu IAS Officer Mangat Ram Sharma Joins NLC India Board
New Delhi: State-run mining and power giant NLC India Ltd on Friday announced the appointment of senior Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer Shri Mangat Ram Sharma as a Part-time Official Director on its board.
The appointment was notified by the Ministry of Coal and is effective from January 16, 2026, until further orders, the company said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.

Context
NLC India, a ‘Navratna’ enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, operates lignite mines and thermal power stations primarily in Tamil Nadu. The appointment of a senior state energy department official to its board is seen as a move to strengthen coordination between central PSU operations and state-level energy infrastructure and policy.
The company affirmed that Sharma is not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other authority.
