Mumbai, 1st March 2026: GAIL (India) Limited has announced the appointment of Shri Deepak Gupta as its new Chairman and Managing Director, effective 1st March 2026. This follows the company’s earlier communication dated 12th February 2026 regarding the leadership transition.

 

About Shri Deepak Gupta

Shri Deepak Gupta (DIN 09503339) is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering with over 35 years of diverse experience across the oil and gas value chain. He brings a unique combination of technical expertise, strategic insight, and board-level leadership to GAIL. His career highlights include:

  • Leadership in Project & Construction Management, global procurement, technology selection, business development, operations, and maintenance.

  • Oversight of more than 20,000 km of natural gas and LPG pipelines, compressor stations, and process plants.

  • Completion of the Dabhol Breakwater Project under Konkan LNG Limited (GAIL subsidiary), enabling all-weather operations.

  • Pioneering digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational agility and transparency.

Board & Strategic Roles

Mr. Gupta serves as Chairman or Director in several GAIL subsidiaries and joint ventures, including:

  • Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited – Chairman

  • Green Gas Limited – Chairman

  • Talcher Fertilizers Ltd. – Chairman

  • ONGC Petro-additions Limited (OPaL) – Director

  • South-East Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited (SEAGP) – Director

Prior Experience

Before joining GAIL, Shri Gupta spent 32 years at Engineers India Limited, leading major projects such as:

  • Dangote Refinery & Petrochemical Complex, Nigeria

  • HMEL Mega Petrochemical Complex, Bhatinda

  • GAIL Petrochemical Expansion, Pata

  • Greenfield refinery project in Mongolia

He has authored multiple technical papers and contributed to institutionalizing best practices in project acceleration and digital transformation.

Compliance

Shri Deepak Gupta has no familial or financial relationships with other GAIL directors and is not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, or any statutory authority.

GAIL has formally informed the National Stock Exchange (GAIL-EQ) and BSE Limited (Scrip Code: 532155) about this change in directorship in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
