New Delhi: The 30th VSGH (Visakha Steel General Hospital) Formation Day was observed in a grand manner in the Learning and Development Centre Auditorium of L&DC Dept. today. Starting with humble beginnings at Sector -2 as a health center, catering health care services to the project employees since 1983, the need for a full-fledged multi-specialty Hospital became a reality in the year 1992, which is the present VSGH. The VSGH Building was commissioned in Sector-6 of Ukkunagaram, way back on 27th December 1992 by the then CMD Mr.Ahuja

The program begun with a note of 1 minute silence observed in respect and tributes to the departed souls during the year, especially for those COVID warriors who had given their lives extending undaunted healthcare services through their sacrificial note of service dedication and those who have succumbed to the catastrophic 2nd wave of COVID -19 pandemic.

Chief Guest Shri Deb Kumar Mohanthy, Director (Commercial) & Director (Personnel) - Addl Charge, Guest Speaker Dr Nagesh (Top rated Psychologist, Mind/ face reader, Caption writer, Educational Consultant, Life Skills Coach, Neuro-linguistic Trainer from NIMHANS – National Institute of Mental Health and Neurological Sciences, Bangalore), along with Dr KH Prakash, CGM (M&HS) & HoD [Medical] and Dr AP Naveen Kumar, GM (Medical)-General Medicine has done the honors of lighting the lamp.  

Shri Deb Kumar Mohanthy, Director (Commercial) & Director (Personnel)-Addl. Charge appreciated the endeavors of VSGH Collective, as a Medical dept. in reaching up to the expectations of the employees, their dependants, contractual employees in providing apt health care services with concern for humanity and commitment.

He informed that all support would be provided by the management to improve the services to patients, in line with the benchmark strategies taken up by Medical Dept.

Dr KH Prakash, CGM (M&HS) and HoD [Medical] welcomed the gathering. He extended a token of appreciation to Dr Ravindra Francis who had been instrumental as a guiding factor and had been instrumental in coordinating the implementation of State Govt. Health programs, concerning testing and vaccination for COVID.

Dr AP Naveen Kumar, GM (Medical)-Gen. Medicine, delivered a powerpoint presentation on VSGH journey and the activities of VSGH especially during the COVID pandemic situation and the after-math where there was an increase in the no. of cases presenting with Dengue. He highlighted the achievements galore by the team of VSGH doctors in obtaining 5 star rating for the Hospital in service delivery, securing a no.1 place in the District and for being ranked as a no.2 COVID care unit in the State of Andhra Pradesh, in spite of the adversities, uncertainties owing to COVID pandemic.

Dr.Nagesh, a renowned Psychologist from NIMHANS, Bangalore, presented a hilarious intellectual and lively session which was a stress buster as well as a motivating inspirational uplift for all the listeners who participated in the event.

Awards and Prizes were distributed on the occasion, which are as follows:

1.       Dr.Kopacchi Krishnamurthy Gold Medal for the year 2021 for the Best Medical Officer: Dr Hari Prasad Misra. DGM (Medical)

2.       Smt.Lakshmi Prabhakar Silver Medal for the year 2021 for the Best Nurse : Smt Ch Jayalakshmi, DM (Nursing)

3.    Runner Up Trophy for the Cricket team which participated in the intra departmental Cricket Match on 25th Dec 2021 as part of the VSGH formation day celebrations. Team of GM (Medical)-Gen. Medicine

4.   Winners Trophy for the Cricket team which participated in the intra departmental Cricket Match on 25th Dec 2021 as part of the VSGH formation day celebrations. Team of CGM (M&HS)

5.       Man of the Match Prize to the Best Cricketer of the event: Dr B Satish Kumar. MD (Gen.  Medicine)
