KIOCL contributes Rs.10.10 Cr and one day salary of employees to PM Cares Fund

New Delhi: KIOCL Limited (formerly Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited), (a Govt. of India Enterprise), under Ministry of Steel, a port based EOU is currently in the business of Iron Ore Pelletization in the State of Karnataka. KIOCL has always been a front-runner in its obligations towards Corporate Social Responsibility. It’s been helping the needy people immediately whenever they are in crises due to Natural Calamity. 

In its continuous quest to contribute towards fight against COVID-19, KIOCL Limited, under the guidance of Sri Dharmendra Pradhanji, Hon’ble Union Minister of PNG & Steel, is working on 24x7 basis to extend support to the needy people especially migrant workers, contract workers, people  below the poverty line to combat the hurdles faced by them due to lockdown measures announced by  Govt. of India.  
 
M V Subba Rao, Chairman-cum-Managing Director informed that the Company has contributed Rs.10.10 Crores and one day salary collectively by all the employees amounting to Rs.23.72 lakhs to PM CARES Fund.   He also informed that Rs.15.00 Lakhs has been contributed to Karnataka CM Relief Fund to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.  In addition to the above, he also mentioned that, as per the Appeal of the Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District, an amount of Rs.4.46 lakhs  has been deposited  to  Food Corporation of  India  towards  procurement of  200 Quintals of rice, for providing food to migrant labourers,  located  in different areas of Dakshina Kannada District.
 
In order to minimize exposure to infections that could cause serious illness, KIOCL Limited distributed PPEs such as Face-masks, Sanitizers, hand-gloves, food packets etc., to the needy people at Bengaluru and Mangaluru areas.   KIOCL Ltd.,  also   sponsored   grocery items and distributed  to BPL card holders at Mukka area, near Mangaluru.  A helping hand was also extended to “Samvedhana”, a home for destitute at Mangalure by sponsporing monthly grocery items and PPEs to children. 
 
KIOCL Ltd.,  in association with LIONS, Kudremukh,  distributed food-grains to the poor contract workers,  deployed at the KIOCL Township, Kavoor and at the Pellet Plant, Mangalore. The Officers Association of KIOCL distributed face masks to labourers staying at the Labour colony, at Kavoor area, Mangalore. Further,  Kudremukh Mazdoor Sangh, the Recognized union at KIOCL, distributed the provision/grocery items to the needy contract workers, deployed at KIOCL units at Panambur.   The  SC/ST Association of KIOCL Ltd.,  also  distributed  the grocery items to the needy people residing at the Bondel/ Kavoor areas of Mangalore. At Corporate Office, Bangaluru, grocery items were distributed to all Contract labourers,Security personnel.
 
To support our community at Mangaluru during lockdown, KIOCL  Ltd., volutarily extended free food services to all its employees and contractor workers as well as to Govt. officials like Police personnel, who were on offficial duty at Kuloor, Kavoor and nearby areas & also to MESCOM employees, who were working at Sub-station near the main entrance of Pellet Plant Unit,  Panambur, Mangalore for entire lockdown period
 
As per DPE guidelines, Company is strictly allowing its employees to work on roster basis. Safety/ Health measures are adopted at work spots viz., social distancing, Thermo screening test, usage of hand sanitizers or liquid soap solutions at work places, spraying of disinfectants at all places of Plant area, township area, Corporate Office on regular basis, besides providing them with proper safety equipment etc. Our frontline warriors such as Company Doctors, staff nurses etc., are always available on duty to take care of health issues of employees and contract workers.
 
As per the advisory of GoI, KIOCL Limited, released the monthly stipend to Appretinces/ Trainees undergoing Apprenticeship Course in the Company  and also  wages for Contractor workers engaged by the Company  to take care of their daily needs during the entire lockdown period.
