MCL provided rs 7.31 cr for a 500 bedded Covid-19 hospital

Sambalpur: The 500 bedded COVID-19 Hospital funded by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited [MCL] operated by SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar was inaugurated through Video Conferencing by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal & Mines, Shri Prahlad Joshi and Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Steel , Shri Dharmendra Pradhan in the presence of Chief Secretary Govt. of Odisha, Shri Asit Kumar Tripathy, IAS and VC, SoA University, Dr Ashok Mohapatra from Bhubaneswar and CMD, MCL Shri B.N.Shukla along with the Functional Directors of MCL from Sambalpur.

In his address, Hon’ble Chief Minister thanked Shri Prahlad Joshi , Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and the MCL Management for creating the facility and helping the Odisha Government in its fight against COVID-19.
 
Shri Prahlad Joshi, complimented the State Government for its role in fighting the pandemic and assured full support by the Ministry of Coal in combating the deadly virus under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. He also said that all PSU’s especially MCL & NALCO have been instructed to render full support to the State Government in this regard.
 
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, appreciated the efforts of the State Government and the Ministry of Coal and said that the Central Government is committed to provide all necessary facility in battling the epidemic. He further said that the existing 1.50 lac Quarantine beds would be increased if necessary so that facilities would be made available from the Gram Panchayat Level to the District Level to the Capital Level.
 
Mahanadi Coalfields Limited had earlier on 26/03/2020 signed a Tri-partite agreement with the Govt. of Odisha and SUM Hospital for funding a 500 bedded and 25 bedded ICU facility in the COVID-19 Hospital to be managed by SUM Hospital at Bhubaneswar against which the first installment of 7.31 crores was deposited.
