Observance of Swachhta Hi Sewa by DVC

KOLKATA. Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) observed Swachhta Hi Sewa (SHS)-2019 with full zeal and enthusiasm from 11th September to 2nd October, 2019 (Swachh Bharat Diwas) at its corporate office, Kolkata and all field formations. The theme for this year’s SHS was Plastic Waste Management.
 
During observance of SHS, various awareness campaigns were organized and innovative programmes were undertaken including massive Shramdan for plastic waste collection at all levels in every project of DVC as well as nearby villages under CSR areas. A floral tribute was paid to Mahatma Gandhiji for his 150th birth anniversary by Shri P.P. Chakraborty, Additional Secretary, Shri A.K. Verma, Executive Director (HR) of DVC and many others during a cleaning drive of Ganga Embankment at Ghandhi Ghat Area, Barrackpore on 30.09.2019.
 
On 2nd October 2019 the culminating day of SHS, an Island Garden at Ultadanga Main Road, Kolkata was inaugurated by Shri Atin Ghosh, Deputy Mayor, KMC. He offered garland to the Father of the Nation and remembered his vision of Cleanliness. He also appreciated DVC’s endeavour to take forward the vision of Swachh Bharat. Shri Anindya Kishore Routh, Chairman, Borough Committee, KMC, Dr. P.K. Mukhopadhyay, Member-Secretary, DVC and Shri P.P. Chakraborty, Additional Secretary, DVC were present on this occasion. Children and teaching staffs of nearby schools also attended the function.
 
A deliberation on Mahatma Gandhiji’s idea on Swachhta by Swami Vedatitananda, R.K. Mission, Belur Math was organized at DVC Hqrs. Kolkata on 25.09.2019.
