Air Mshl Vivek Hande Assumes Appointment as DGMS (Air) on 1 Sep 2026
New Delhi, 1 September 2026: Air Mshl Vivek Hande, AVSM, VSM assumed the appointment of Director General Medical Services (Air) [DGMS (Air)] on 1 September 2026 on permanent secondment to the Indian Air Force.
Air Mshl Vivek Hande was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in December 1988. He is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Tata Memorial Hospital and National Defence College.
A Gastroenterologist, Air Mshl Vivek Hande has held several specialist and administrative appointments during his career, including Commandant, INHS Asvini; Senior Consultant Medicine; and Director General (Organisation & Personnel), Office of DGAFMS.
His appointment as DGMS (Air) marks his assumption of the senior medical leadership position within the Indian Air Force.
