Bharat Petroleum to layout ATF pipeline linking Noida International Airport

Bharat Petroleum Corporation is set to lay a 35-km dedicated aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipeline from its Piyala Terminal to the tank farm at the airport in Noida International Aiport (NIAL), Jewar in Uttar Pradesh.

The Piyala terminal of BPCL is located in Faridabad, Haryana.

The ATF pipeline work comes into action after NIAL and BPCL had entered into an agreement in February 2024 to meet its requirements. The pipeline will span over 34 km and further would be extended by 1.2 km within the airport premises.

A common Contract carrier basis will be made to operational to ensure seamless fuel transportation to the airport where the common use of fuel transportation pipeline will ease fuel receipt operations and mitigate emissions. 

This collaboration would further aim to offer cost-efficient and sustainable solutions for the transportation of liquid fuels compared to road transport. The move will also reduce carbon emissions and boost overall efficiency and would prioritize a more sustainable future.

State-owned PSU oil firm is efficient in setting up ATF facilities at airports and allied infrastructure in India and is committed to reducing carbon emissions by minimising the road transportation of fuel.

The first phase of the airport will have one runway and one terminal, with the capacity to handle traffic of 12 million passengers annually, and commercial services may start by the end of this year. As soon as the four development phases are completed, the airport will be able to cater to 70 million passengers per year.
