BPCL added 500 more trees by planting saplings
New Delhi: In continuation to the World Environment Day 2022 tree plantation campaign, we added 500 more trees by planting saplings using the Miyawaki technique, at Sewree installation.
Miyawaki is a technique wherein saplings are planted in proximity to each other, such that they only receive sunlight from above and grow vertically, not sideways. This results in a plantation that is 30 times denser, grows 10 times faster and becomes virtually maintenance-free after 3 years.
BPCL also utilised the Miyawaki Technique to conduct Tree Plantation Drives at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at Kurla, Mumbai, as well as at 15 other marketing locations, wherein 12,000 saplings were planted, to strive for #biodiversity.
