New Delhi: The 66th Annual Mines Safety Week 2023 concluded with a Closing-cum-Prize distribution Ceremony on 27.01.2024 in the Hazaribagh area of Central Coalfields Limited. The ceremony, orchestrated by CCL under the auspices of the DGMS, saw the esteemed presence of dignitaries, including Chief Guest DGMS Shri Prabhat Kumar, DMS Sri Aftab Ahmad and his team, CMD Dr B. Veera Reddy, Director (T/Op.) Sri Ram Baboo Prasad, Director (Personnel) Sri Harsh Nath Mishra, Director (Tech/P&P) Sri B. Sairam, CVO Sri Pankaj Kumar, Sri Harish Duhan, Sri Animesh Jain, RED, NTPC, Sri Anurag Dixit, GM, Tata Steel, Sri Jagesh Mandiye, ED(Mining), DVC, all Area General Managers of CCL, Sri Ramendra Kumar, Members of the CCL Safety Board, and Trade Union Representatives.

The ceremony commenced with a tribute to departed mine workers, the CIL Corporate Geet, and the presentation of a tableau aimed at raising awareness about safety and showcasing companies' operations/performance. A laser show highlighting safety measures added an informative aspect to the event.

A total of 45 stalls representing 14 operational areas and the headquarters of CCL, NTPC, Tata Steel, Hindalco, and various mining entities were displayed, garnering much appreciation. A model of an underground gallery simulating UG mining practices was also showcased. To commemorate the occasion, a souvenir and Safety Calendar highlighting the importance of safety in mines were also released.

Chief Guest DGMS Sri Prabhat Kumar underscored the importance of safety in mines, urging strict adherence to safety rules. Dr. B. Veera Reddy, CMD, CCL, appreciated the entire team of DGMS for their positive efforts in implementing safety measures in CCL mines and he further committed to achieving CCL's production targets following safety measures. DMS Sri Aftab Ahmad emphasized that following safety rules at the workplace should be a way of life.

A comprehensive Safety and Rescue status report of the company was presented by Sri S.K. Singh, GM(S&R). Mines of all participating companies were awarded, with Amrapali OCP & Govindpur UG receiving the prestigious overall First Prize in Mines Safety.

The organizing team, led by Sri KK Sinha, GM, Hazaribagh, Sri SK Singh, GM Safety, HQ and their dedicated team, received wide appreciation for their pivotal role in the successful organising the Safety Week.
