CIRC organised 2-Day Residential Management Development Programme on Transformational CSR and Sustainable Development

New Delhi: CUTS Institute for Regulation & Competition (CIRC) organised a 2-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Transformational CSR and Sustainable Development from July 20-21, 2023 at New Delhi.
The inaugural address was given by Pradeep Mehta, Chairman, CIRC and Secretary General, CUTS International.
He informed participants about the hot weather in the global west was an unusual situation, clearly citing the consequences of climate change and it was also evident from the floods in other parts of the world including India. The need of the present time was of sustainable development and he touched upon the COP27 meeting outcome to mention about the ‘Loss & Damage’, due to climate change & the issue has been highlighted now.

Rajpal, Executive Director (Law)He also mentioned about poverty, inequity & empowerment which are crucial to sustainable development and emphasised that the sustainability of any company hinges upon the intellectual capital of personnel and the MDPs such as the present one, plays a vital role in the capacity building.
Referring to the global sustainability goals, he emphasised that biodiversity and conservation of natural resources is of utmost concern & necessity that ensures sustainability in the long run. He wished the participants good learnings from the CIRC’s 2-day MDP on CSR & Sustainability.
Prof. Ashok B Chakraborty, Senior Advisor, CIRC, Programme Director, led the 2-day programme and elaborated on the contents of the programme which includes CSR projects towards climate adaptation and environment initiatives, designing CSR programs, around afforestation- opportunities and case studies, designing community development impactful programs and program implementation critical steps: monitoring evaluation and impact assessment.

During the feedback session, participants shared their learning experiences during the 2-days programme and how their horizon of knowledge on Strategic CSR and aligning to other national priorities has broadened which would be beneficial to them in terms of designing a holistic CSR/Sustainability project and better reporting.
