Coal India surpasses annual supply target with record of 610.8 MT supply
This surpass is calculated to be the second consecutive year by Coal India where coal supplies to the power sector exceeded the target.
State-run coal miner Coal India Limited has confirmed it supplied a record 610.8 million tonnes of coal to the country’s thermal power plants so far this fiscal, surpassing the annual target of 610 million tonnes to the power sector.
Last financial year the coal production supply was 581.5 MTs and the increase was witnessed around 29.3 MTs or 5% higher. Currently, CIL's supplies to the coal-fired plants are measuring around 1.76 MTs per day while growing demand from the power sector.

In FY 2023 the target to power plants was 586.6 MTs against the planned commitment of 565 MTs in the budgetary session.
Eventually boosted by higher supplies from CIL, coal stock at domestic coal-based power plants reached up to 47.1 MTs, as of 26 March ahead of ending the financial year. The stock is totaled to be around 13.7 MTs more compared to the same period last year. Coal stock at power plants was 33.4 MTs as of the same date in FY 2023.
