New Delhi: According to the rankings released by the Airports Council International (ACI) World recently for the busiest airports worldwide in 2023, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has secured the tenth position, handling 7.22 crore passengers annually.
This holistic embark marks a significant progression from its 2019 ranking of 17th place, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
IGI Airport has eventually reached rank, from 17th in 2019 to 10th in 2023, showcasing consistent growth in passenger traffic over the years.

The Significant Growth of the top 10 airports, representing nearly 10% of global traffic, experienced a substantial 19.8% increase from 2022 or a 0.7% gain from pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
ACI World Director General, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, highlighted the enduring strength of perennial US leaders in the top rankings. He noted Dubai International Airport's significant jump to second place and Tokyo Haneda International Airport's remarkable ascent.
The rankings are based on data collected from over 2,600 airports across more than 180 countries and territories globally, providing a comprehensive overview of global airport traffic trends.
