Japanese team to conduct safety passenger audit post train derailment in Andhra

NEW DELHI . The Indian Railways is set to go for an external audit of its passenger safety system. Sources said railway experts from Japan are likely to begin the audit soon. Japanese experts, along with those from South Korea, Italy and France are already probing the Patna- Indore express derailment at Pukhrayan.
 
"There will be a third-party audit to assess the safety standards of Indian Railways. As part of the exercise, track conditions, signaling systems and compatibility of existing coaches will be examined," a railway ministry official said. Emphasis will be track conditions to check whether they can support the movement of high-speed trains.India today
