India Advises Citizens to Avoid Travel to Iran Amid Security Concerns
New Delhi, January 15, 2026 – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly advised Indian nationals against traveling to Iran due to the deteriorating security situation in the country.
Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) residing in Iran are urged to exercise caution and avoid areas experiencing protests. Those living in Iran on resident visas are encouraged to register with the Indian Embassy in Tehran, if they have not already done so.
The MEA and the Indian Embassy in Tehran have also advised Indian nationals currently in Iran, including students, pilgrims, business travelers, and tourists, to leave the country using available transport options, including commercial flights. Individuals are reminded to keep their immigration and identity documents accessible during travel.
