At AI Impact Summit 2026, PM Narendra Modi unveils India’s AI roadmap: Microsoft, Google, AWS, Adani, and L&T-Nvidia pledge billions. India’s national AI cluster scales to 58,000 GPUs, empowering startups at one-third global cost.
India’s $200B AI Revolution: Global Investments & Future Impact

New Delhi, February 23, 2026 – Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has positioned itself as a global hub for artificial intelligence. Hosting the AI Impact Summit 2026, India became the first Global South nation to outline a comprehensive roadmap for AI development that balances innovation with ethical oversight.

The summit formalized India’s AI principles through the Delhi Declaration, emphasizing “giving AI an open sky while keeping command in human hands” – a framework many advanced economies have yet to adopt.

Digital Public Infrastructure: The Foundation of AI Growth

India’s AI ambitions are built on the country’s digital public infrastructure, already the largest of any democracy. Key pillars include:

  • Unified Payments Interface (UPI): Processed over 228 billion transactions in 2025, worth roughly $34 trillion.

  • JAM Trinity (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile): Enabled over ₹3.48 lakh crore in welfare savings since 2015.

Where digital infrastructure connected citizens to the state, AI infrastructure aims to connect citizens to capability.

National AI Compute Cluster

India’s IndiaAI Mission has already created a national AI compute cluster of 38,000 GPUs, scaling to 58,000 GPUs. This cluster is available to startups at roughly one-third of global cost, making India one of the most attractive AI ecosystems in the world.

With these commitments, the government aims to deploy $200 billion in AI infrastructure over the next two years. The pledges announced at the summit put this target well within reach.

A Bright Future Ahead

The AI Impact Summit 2026 highlighted India’s ambition to lead not only in AI technology but also in ethical, inclusive, and sustainable AI deployment. By integrating startups, multinationals, and government support, India is setting a global benchmark for innovation, investment, and opportunity in AI.

India’s journey in AI has just begun – the best is yet to come.
