MAHSR Project Makes Significant Progress in Gujarat and Maharashtra
NEW DELHI- The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, a prestigious infrastructure project in India, has achieved significant milestones in Gujarat and Maharashtra, according to the latest project status update as of April 22, 2023.
In Gujarat, the project has completed a cumulative 50 km of launching of Full Span and Segmental Girders for the viaduct, a major component of the high-speed rail infrastructure. This includes 9.1 km of continuous viaduct near Vadodara and 41.06 km erected at different locations. Piles have been cast over a length of 285.8 km, foundation work has been completed over 215.9 km, and piers have been constructed over a stretch of 182.4 km.
A total of 1882 girders, adding up to over 75.3 km, have been cast. Construction work is in full swing along the alignment passing through 8 districts of Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH).

Bridge works on important rivers such as Narmada, Tapti, Mahi, and Sabarmati are also in progress, with Par River Bridge being the first river bridge completed in January 2023. All contracts for Civil, Bridges, and Track for the entire 352 km alignment passing through Gujarat and DNH have been awarded over the period of 2 years, marking a significant achievement for the project.
In Maharashtra, the tender status update reveals that the construction agreement has been signed for the Mumbai HSR Station (MAHSR Package C-1) on March 20, 2023. Additionally, financial bids for the construction of a 21 km tunnel between Mumbai HSR Station and Shilphata, including a 7 km undersea tunnel (MAHSR Package C-2), were opened on April 6, 2023.

Furthermore, the land acquisition status for the entire project is at an overall rate of 99.17%, with Gujarat at 98.91%, DNH at 100%, and Maharashtra at 99.75%.
The MAHSR corridor, with its high-speed rail infrastructure, is set to revolutionize transportation in the region, reducing travel time and boosting economic growth. The progress achieved in Gujarat and Maharashtra marks a significant step towards realizing this ambitious project, which is expected to enhance connectivity and improve the quality of life for millions of people in the region.
